Design Engineer (Gainesville, FL)


The Design Engineer will create, design, and produce layout, assembly, and detail drawings for required designs. The Design Engineer will use programming logic in conjunction to CAD knowledge to assist with future implementation of company product configuration. The position may include general arrangement, complex assembly, fabrication/construction, and proposal drawings in conjunction with quoting, production, or development of customized products. These products are generally pneumatic cylinders and valves used in the fluid power and industrial automation field.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and revises layout drawings, proposal drawings, assembly drawings and detail drawings.
  • Organize, design, and detail custom and/or new projects including reviewing proposals, gathering information and performing calculations.
  • Investigate applicable design factors for ease of manufacturability, cost, and reliability/maintenance while ensuring contractual specifications, performance, and functionality.
  • Follow through completely for overall design of small projects or portions of major projects by coordinating with Engineers, Designers, Drafters, CNC Machinists, and Customers.
  • Create Bills of Material for production and assembly.
  • Review own work for accuracy.
  • Assist Engineers and Designers to design, develop and test products.
  • Coordinate with company vendors, staff and IT department to provide consumer with, readily available, detailed 3D product.
  • Continually provide maintenance of 3D content resulting from year to year updates.
  • Continually provide maintenance of Buy Design logic.

Requirements:

  • Requires proficiency with Solidworks 3D CAD software.
  • Requires experience with AutoCAD 2D software.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Excellent math and communication skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude-ability to comprehend complex technical topics and specialized information.
  • Knowledge of working technical drawings and tolerances.

Desired Skills:

  • ERP system knowledge with experience utilizing Infor Syteline is a plus.
  • Self-motivated individual with strong communication skills.
  • Experience with basic programming logic.

Education and experience:

  • Associate’s degree preferred (two year college or technical school) in a technical design discipline.
