Hydraulic Heavy Duty Cylinders

Series HHD Hydraulic Heavy Duty

Series HHD Hydraulic Heavy Duty

Durable 3,000 PSI Cylinders for High Pressure Systems in Tough Environments

Series HHD hydraulic actuators are suitable for applications requiring extra output power and durability to stand up to harsh conditions. They provide up to 3,000 psi of continuous force, making them ideal in high-pressure systems. And they’re also built to last. The cylinder barrel’s heavy wall is honed to an 8 to 16 µ finish to ensure piston bearing life, while the extra long rod cartridge is made of high-strength bronze to deliver exceptional bearing support and wear resistance. The cast iron pistons are designed to provide maximum strength and protection against shock loads, and the piston rods offer 100,000 psi yield strength in the ⅝ through 4 ½ inch diameters and up to 75,000 psi for larger-diameter models. The steel tie rods feature 100,000 to 125,000 psi yield strength.

Additional features include machined cushions to ensure gradual deceleration and reduced shock at the end of the stroke, Teflon® end seals, standard SAE ports and a circular rod bushing retainer so the rod cartridge can be removed without disassembling the cylinder. HHD hydraulic actuators are offered with 20 NFPA standard mounting options for interchange convenience.

Key Specifications

  • Pressure rated to 3,000 psi hydraulic service
  • Available in 16 bore sizes from 1 ½ to 24 inches
  • Circular rod bushing retainer to remove the rod cartridge without cylinder disassembly
  • Over 20 NFPA standard mounting options
  • Seven standard piston seal options
  • Four standard rod end seal options
  • SAE ports with 90-degree rotation standard
  • Pressure-energized nitrile U-cups with backup rings
  • Many standard options and configurations available
  • The actuator is pressure rated to 3,000 psi hydraulic service.
  • The damage-resistant cylinder barrel is made with heavy wall steel tubing and honed to an 8 to 16µ finish for low frictional drag and maximum seal and piston rod bearing life.
  • The extra-long rod, high strength cartridge provides effective bearing support and wear resistance.
  • A one-piece fine grained cast iron piston features maximum strength and protection against shock loads.
  • The high-strength, damage-resistant piston rod provides 100,000 psi minimum yield material in ⅝ through 4 ½ inch diameters. Yield strength for larger diameters is between 50,000 and 75,000 psi.
  • Tie rods are made with 100,000 to 125,000 psi minimum yield strength steel, pre-stressed to reduce fatigue and roll threaded for added strength.
  • A circular rod bushing retainer allows the rod cartridge to be removed without disassembling the cylinder.
  • The head cushion sleeve and rear cushion spear are machined to close tolerances to provide a gradual deceleration and reduced shock at the end of the stroke.
  • The cushion can be adjusted safely under pressure thanks to a needle adjuster, and a cushion ball check permits fast breakaway under full power.
  • Pressure-energized nitrile U-cups with backup rings are standard.

Applications

  • Packaging machinery
